Get Maine Lobster Launches GML AirWing,Maine’s First Natural Aerial Delivery Network

After three years of development, the premium seafood company partners with Maine’s coastal seagull community to offer true dock-to-doorstep delivery — zero emissions, zero drones, one hundred percent seagull. Lead carrier Kevin departs Union Wharf daily.

PORTLAND, MaineGet Maine Lobster, the premium direct-to-consumer seafood company headquartered at 48 Union Wharf in Portland, today announced the launch of GML AirWing, the company’s natural aerial delivery division — and the most literal interpretation of the company’s founding promise in its history.

“Dock to doorstep” has been Get Maine Lobster’s tagline since the company’s founding. The phrase was intended to communicate the shortest possible distance between Maine’s waters and the customer’s table — a philosophy of freshness, provenance, and directness that has guided every order the company has ever shipped.

With the launch of GML AirWing, the company confirms that the tagline was, in fact, literal the whole time.

“We’ve always said dock to doorstep,” said Mark Murrell, founder of Get Maine Lobster. “Turns out we were being literal the whole time. Kevin departs our dock at Union Wharf every morning. He flies directly to your doorstep. He does not use I-95. We are very proud of him.”

GML AirWing’s inaugural and lead carrier is Kevin, a Maine herring gull with 14,000 hours of documented flight experience, a 52-inch wingspan, and a home port of Union Wharf — the same dock from which every Get Maine Lobster order has shipped since the company’s founding.

In over 300 documented test deliveries, Kevin successfully departed Union Wharf on every single occasion. Arrival times remain, in the company’s own assessment, “a work in progress.” Kevin is not responsible for packages that arrive slightly damp. The company notes this is simply Maine.

The AirWing network operates on a zero-emissions model with no drones, no delivery vehicles, and no last-mile logistics infrastructure of any kind. Packages depart the dock by talon. They arrive at the doorstep by the same method. The company believes this represents a meaningful step forward in sustainable seafood logistics, pending resolution of several outstanding issues related to Kevin’s general disposition.

“This is the future of sustainable seafood delivery,” Murrell added. “Or it will be, once we figure out the ETA situation. Kevin is aware of the urgency. He is thinking about it.”

Kevin joined the GML team following an extensive three-year coastal recruitment process. He brings deep familiarity with Maine’s Atlantic seaboard, a proven ability to navigate complex wind patterns between Portland and Cape Cod, and an indifference to weather conditions that the company describes as “professional.” When not on active delivery, Kevin enjoys hovering near outdoor dining establishments and offering unsolicited assessments of French fry quality. He is not sorry about this.

Early access signups for GML AirWing are now open at getmainelobster.com/airwing. Consumers may enter their zip code to reserve a position on Kevin’s route schedule. The company expects to expand AirWing coverage across New England, pending wind conditions and Kevin’s general mood.
